In 1996, I was called by God to go to Haiti on an 8-day mission trip. I also went in 1997 and 1999. All three trips were with the Crusades for Christ, which is based in London, Kentucky Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world. The official languages are French and Creole. the average Haitian who works earns $1 a day, one may work more than 10 hours a day. Aids is very high in Haiti. The main crops in Haiti are coffee and sugar cane. It costs $25 a month to send a child to school; where they receive a uniform, education and one meal each day.

The time of year that I went was in January, when the average temperatures ranged from 85 to 95 degrees. Haiti is about 1,400 miles from Lexington, Kentucky. During the three trips, I have received many blessings from the people of Haiti. During the day, Crusades for Christ would buy rice, beans and oil, which was then distributed to schools and orphanages. The money to buy the food was donated by Christians and churches in the United States. In the evenings, Crusades for Christ would hold revivals at different churches throughout Port-Au-Prince. Many Haitians have come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior. Do you know Jesus?
