On March 6 the four of us (Walter Dunn, Paul Rains, Bill Brown, and Robert Ziegler) flew from Knoxville to Barquisimeto, Venezuela. We were met by some of our Venezuelan friends and missionary Sam Paris who took us to the hotel where we spent the night. The next day we rested from the trip and visited with Venezuelan friends. In the afternoon we traveled by taxi to Araure where we attended the Wednesday evening service.

Some of the team members had helped build the church building there. We stayed overnight in Araure and then traveled back to Barquisimeto on Thursday morning. On Thursday afternoon Sam Paris took us to Sanare where we stayed a week. We had been there last year when we had helped erect the church building. This year we helped construct pews for the church and also some tables to be used for Sunday School use. They had a Sunday School building on the side of the property which was open on one side and we used this for our woodworking.

We also had special services several evenings. Paul Rains preached at these services. On Sunday he baptized three candidates who had accepted Christ previously. The way the building is built there is baptistry behind the building and the baptism is visible through the window at the back of the building. On Sunday evening we went out into the country to a house where there is a preaching point and had a service.

We worked on constructing the pews and tables through Wednesday. On the next Thursday, Sam Paris came and we went back to Barquisimeto where we visited several friends. On Saturday evening we went to a mission at a suburb called Sabande Grande where a service was held.

On Sunday we traveled with the Iglesia Cristo Vive to a park on a river in the area of Sarare where a baptismal service was held in the river. Then a picnic was held. We came back to Barquisimeto that afternoon and got ready to return to Knoxville and home on Monday March 19. We had a good trip and accomplished what we had set out to do in constructing the pews and tables. We had 10 professions of faith.
